This quote is saying if you just say "we're going to win, we're going win" is good you are confident but  it won't make the difference. You make a difference when you actually prepare for something you want to do. You sacrifice other non important things because you want to succeed in something you really want. Being prepared will help you succeed instead of just saying " i know i'm going to do this right etc." Always be prepared, there is a much higher chance you will succeed. Even if you don't win, you will be proud of yourself for trying your best. Preparing yourself will make the difference you want.

This statement is saying its better to be on your own then to be with someone who only gives bad influences. Its better to depend on yourself because there will be people who will put you down instead of helping you rise. Its better to be alone if the people you hang out with just cause you problems or get you in trouble. For example, if the group of friends you hang out with do drugs and drink and you know its wrong then don't hang with them and be on your own. If the groups of friends don't help you succeed then they aren't your real friends.
