Nursing Home Administrator

             Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities:
      Nursing home administrators plan and direct operations of nursing homes and care facilities. They supervise personnel, financial, medical, and nursing administrations. Most work in nursing homes but others work in corporations.

Average Salary: $40,000 - $55,000      


Education:             
      Students should take challenging courses in high school. They should courses in business, math, science, and English. Most states require for a nursing home administrator to have a bachelor’s degree in nursing home administration, complete an internship program, and pass a comprehensive exam.

I would like to work as a nursing home administrator because it seems like a fun job and it’s something that has always caught my attention.

          Health Information Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Health Specialists obtain, post, and analyze medical, workload, finance, and insurance data. They make sure that the information is properly recorded into medical records. There are a variety of job specialties within this field including Registered Record Administrators, Accredited Record Technicians, and Certified Coding Specialists.  Health information specialists work in hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, physician offices, and many other medical settings.
Average Salary:
$20,000 - $25,000 (Coding Specialists)
$23,000 - $30,000 (Record Technicians)
$30,000 - $40,000 (Record Administrators)       
Education:
Students should take high school courses in business, information management, science, math, and English.
Coding specialists need to have a high school diploma or GED certificate. To become certified they have to pass an examination.
Accredited record Specialists must have an Associate’s Degree, from an accredited college program or from the American Health Information Management Association Independent Study Program.
Record Specialists must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the field and pass an examination.
                     CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!

I wouldn’t want to be a Health Information Specialist because it isn’t what I want to be when I grow up. It doesn’t seem like an interesting job for me.

                          Dietetic Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dietetic Technicians assist dietitians in evaluating, organizing, and conducting nutrition services and programs for schools, hospitals, and industry. They:
·        Gather and evaluate diet histories.
·        Assist in planning patient meals.
·        Provide nutritional counseling.
·        Conduct food service operations.
·        Oversee food preparation and service.
·        Maintain records.
Average Salary: $16,000 - $30,000
Educational Requirements:
            Students wanting to become dietetic technicians should graduate from high school with a well-rounded program. High school business courses may prove helpful.
            Dietetic technicians must complete a two-year Associate’s Degree program that is accepted by the American Dietetic Association. They must then pass a Commission on Dietetics Registration examination.
