                    Operating Room Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:
          Operating room technician are also called surgical technicians or surgical technologists. They assist in preparing operating rooms for surgery. They assist doctors in surgeries by giving them the instruments needed. They are responsible for having surgical instruments, sterile bandages and linens, needed fluids, and other equipment ready for the operation. They deliver specimens to hospital laboratories for analysis, and after operations they take patients to the recovery room.

Salary: $16,000 - $22,000                                     


Education:
          It is required to have a High School Diploma or a GED certificate. Some colleges offer programs in operating room technology. These programs are about a year or two years. They receive training in medical terminologists, physiology and sterilization methods. Students must pass an examination by the Association of Surgical Technologists to become certified.


I would like to be an operating room technician because I would like to work in operating rooms and helping doctors in surgeries.
