Laboratory Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Optical Laboratory
Technicians grind and fit eye lenses into frames according to the prescription.
Technicians set lens grinding machine so that lens blanks are ground and
polished. Some ophthalmic technicians work in optical laboratories or for
optometrists or ophthalmologists. Many
work in retail stores that have optical departments.
Salary: $15,000 - $20,000
Education:
A high
school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin optical laboratory
training. Training schools last from 6
months to a year. Some retail stores provide on-the-job training.
I wouldnt want to as an optical laboratory technician. This job isn't what i would like to major in. It doesn't seem like something i would like to do as a career.
