Optometrist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Optometrists treat vision
problems. They treat vision problems by diagnosing the problem and then prescribing
the correct eyeglasses, contact lenses and vision therapy. Some optometrists
specialize in industrial vision safety and environmental care. Most
optometrists are self-employed, however many work for hospitals, government
agencies, optical manufacturers, or universities.
Salary: $78,000
Education:
Students in high
school should take AP or BI classes in math, science, and English. Before
entering an optometry school at least two years of college in a
pre-professional program is required. Optometry school is four years. Optometrists
need to pass state exams before starting training or practice.
I wouldn’t want to
be an optometrist because it doesn't catch my attention. I rather be a doctor who
does surgeries.
